Refers to the operation of wireless devices in fixed locations such as homes and offices to enable data communications between the two sites. Fixed wireless devices usually derive their electrical power from the utility mains, unlike mobile wireless devices. It uses a directional radio antenna on each end of the signal. Their beam is narrow as possible to transmit power to their destination, increasing reliability and reducing the chance of eavesdropping.
