Evaluating the economic viability of business VoIP
When deciding if VoIP is the right move for your business it is important to
evaluate the project with depth of understanding into the applications of the
technology.
For example, Microcomputer manufacturer, Intel, explored a VoIP solution
firstly from a cost point of view. When they took into account their existing
phone infrastructure, high compression over a voice over frame-relay network and
self-maintained bridging system, the cost savings on software licensing and
hardware just didn’t add up.
However, when they considered that VoIP would improve user productivity by
allowing faxing, forwarding of voicemail and so on, their pilot study concluded
a boost of productivity between 134% to 500%. Based on a 650-person site, this
added up to gains of $312,000 a year and a positive return on the VoIP
investment within two years.
Macquarie Telecom can help you explore this solution with our unique approach
to tailoring a solution specific to your business needs.
