DSD Gateway
Australian Government Standards, such as ASCI-33, require Federal Government Agencies to manage access to the Internet and mail services in a secure manner to “in-confidence”, “protected” or “highly protected” levels. Macquarie Telecom is one of only a select group of companies sponsored to provide these DSD Secure Gateway services to the required and accredited standard (as prescribed by DSD - Defence Signals Directorate) for all government, State, Local and Federal.
A DSD Secure gateway is a series of firewalls standing between the public Internet and an agency's internal local area network, providing a clean Internet feed to you.
The quality of this service not only the technology, but also the secure building, processes and cleared staff required to house and run such a facility. Macquarie Telecom is expert in this area, and meets the rigorous and ever changing requirements of DSD Accreditation to their full certification.
In addition, Macquarie Telecom provides related services including government anti-spam, virus filtering and hosting (or housing) of your Internet sites and other computer applications such as email, financial or payroll servers.
Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) Reporting
Government sites are increasingly the target of malicious internet borne attacks, known as DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service), aimed at disrupting the services they provide. These attacks are becoming more sophisticated and pervasive. To ensure that Australian citizens can continue to access services via the web, Governments need to maintain constant vigilance in identifying and responding to these attacks.
To meet this challenge head on, for Government customers who use Macquarie Telecom’s managed gateway services, Macquarie Telecom is introducing a new service. The service is the Macquarie Telecom DDoS Reporting Service, designed to thwart DDoS attacks and strengthen the quality of government services while maintaining network visibility and security.
Reducing the impact of DDoS through Macquarie Telecom
Government now has real time access to the Macquarie Telecom DDoS Reporting Service to monitor network visibility, to understand what applications are running on your network, profile application network behaviour, and detect and report on application traffic violations—thereby reducing downtime and accelerating problem resolution.
The DDoS Reporting Service is a network-wide infrastructure security and traffic-monitoring platform based on the market leading Arbor Network Peakflow SP Collector Platform. 70% of today’s global Internet traffic through the world’s leading service providers is monitored by the Arbor Network Peakflow SP solution.
Government Real time insight into traffic
The DDoS Reporting Service monitors flow for pervasive network visibility, to understand what applications are running on the network, profile application network behaviour, and detect and report on application traffic violations—thereby reducing downtime and accelerating problem resolution.
Through watching normal traffic and routing behaviour, the Macquarie Telecom DDoS Reporting Service learns and correlates the traffic patterns with the topology data to build logical data models. This information enables network and security operations staff to detect threats to availability, and improve network/service offerings and traffic management.
