Strategic partnering model drives greater value for customers as it delivers the best “from all worlds”

10 June 2008, Singapore: Macquarie Telecom, a leading supplier of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) solutions today announced its plans to roll-out groundbreaking Next Generation Network (NGN) strategy to further extend the company’s footprint across Asia Pacific.  At its core is the Hybrid Virtual Network Operator (VNO) model with the specialized expertise to provide tangible differentiation from the offerings of competitors.

The company’s NGN approach combines the core infrastructure and carrier partnerships of a VNO with leading-edge online monitoring and management tools. This combined with our personal accountable service philosophy serves as a key differentiator over traditional regional and global providers.

By calendar year ending 2008, the company stated that major hubs, known as Macquarie Telecom Regional Intelligence Centres, will be fully operational in 10 countries across the Asia Pacific Region, being Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia, China, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand, India, Vietnam, and Indonesia. Once completed, previous stand-alone wholesale supply agreements will be integrated into the company’s own core network infrastructure, enabling the company to more readily accommodate projected application trends in each of the respective countries.

“Our core network expansion plans are linked with the fact that our NGN approach is fast becoming recognised by the market as one that is able to deliver the best of all worlds. It cost-effectively captures the solution strengths traditionally associated with asset based carriers, systems integrators and in-house corporate I.T. departments, delivering a compelling value proposition. Furthermore, by embracing strategic partnerships with carriers around the region, Macquarie Telecom addresses today’s reality that no one vendor can effectively own and operate a network in every country. As such, businesses of all sizes can now benefit from customised turnkey solutions that feature best of breed technologies, comprehensive local to global support resources and customisable service level guarantees,” said Larry Morgan, Managing Director, Macquarie Telecom International.

In response to this trend, Manoj Menon, Frost & Sullivan, Partner, noted, "Macquarie Telecom is a well differentiated service provider in Asia Pacific in the medium-sized business segment due to its flexibility, consistent adherence to Service Level Agreements and exceptional customer service.”

BIC Asia Singapore looks at this move as essential in the context of the telecoms sector, “Macquarie Telecom was very helpful during the implementation. The project manager ensured we were always informed about the next installation steps and co-ordinated from all corners of Asia. At one stage the Project Manager was getting on a plane in Australia and she was still talking to us about the testing of one of our sites… we felt that demonstrated true commitment,” said Cally Hua, Finance Manager Controller – BIC Asia Singapore.

Mark Benfield, Director - Asia Pacific Sales, commented “Plans for the ongoing expansion of our core network infrastructure, as well as a continued commitment to partnering, serve as a foundational building block. With the NGN strategy, systems and services can be seamlessly deployed and/or migrated to match client-specific or market-wide requirements. This allows our multi-carrier core to intelligently route our customers’ traffic over the best possible path, thus providing a backbone with 100% availability.”

“In addition, our customers will benefit from the tracking and management tools that provide them with comprehensive application visibility and control, industry leading service level guarantees, as well as a personal accountable service commitment across all levels of our organisation.”

Founded in July 1992, Macquarie Telecom is one of Asia Pacific’s first deregulated telecommunications companies and holds carrier licenses in Australia, Singapore and Hong Kong. In today’s highly competitive market, Macquarie Telecom has established itself as a trusted partner for companies in the mid size market with a year on year customer retention rate of 95%, far above the industry average.
