Regional business benefit from increased telco competition

Accessing the latest IT and telco services at a competitive price is an ongoing challenge for regional businesses.

This situation is only likely to change if the pace of competition is increased in regional areas.

The more providers there are, the greater the choice and therefore the greater the benefits.

Macquarie Telecom has taken a lead in this process by boosting its presence in Queensland.

The company has formed a strategic partnership with Commerce Queensland – the peak body for the state's business community – to deliver affordable telco and IT services to its members across the state.

Under the agreement Macquarie Telecom will deliver Commerce Queensland members an average saving of around 30 per cent on their current telco costs.

Commerce Queensland members represent companies of all sizes across the state including small to medium sized businesses, as well as commercial and not-for-profit organisations.

The strategic partnership gives these Queensland businesses access to a level of service and savings not available in the past.

Beatrice Booth Consulting, a Geotechnical consulting business based in Cairns, has realised a range of benefits since moving to Macquarie Telecom.

“With previous providers I had challenges with reception in regional areas. As a small business I was also unable to access savings normally associated with business plans,” said Beatrice Booth, owner and manager of Beatrice Booth Consulting.

“Since I moved to Macquarie Telecom I have saved around thirty per cent on my call costs and no longer have any issues with reception.”

Anglicare Central Queensland is a not for profit organisation that operates across the entire central Queensland region.

It has also slashed its telco costs since moving to Macquarie Telecom.

“Our team uses voice and mobile services extensively. But we needed to rein in the costs associated with calls without restricting service availability,” said Bob Pahl, Administration Manager, Anglicare Central Queensland.

“We spoke with Macquarie Telecom and they offered us cost savings that were extremely good compared with our existing rates,” he said.
