Putting the gloss on communications for Wattyl
Looking for a solution to eliminate serious and continued congestion on
its frame relay network, Wattyl found the answer in a new data network
from Macquarie Telecom. (MORE)
Leading Australian-owned paint manufacturer, Wattyl Limited, has
upgraded data communications across its eight Australian and New Zealand
offices with Macquarie Telecom.
Under a co-location agreement, Wattyl also utilises Macquarie's
Intellicentre. This provides multi-peering
Internet broadband connectivity, managed security, complex hosting, and
WAN integration as well as direct connectivity to Macquarie's data
network.
Instrumental in winning the contract was our ability to provide Wattyl
with best-of-breed solutions thanks to our multi-carrier relationships.
Best bandwidth increase for the price
“Macquarie was selected because it provided the best bandwidth increase
for the most affordable price,” said John Croker, CIO, Wattyl Limited.
“The high standard of network traffic monitoring and reporting and the
impressive security of the managed network were also key contributing
factors in Wattyl awarding the contract to Macquarie.”
The Macquarie solution for Wattyl includes a private IP network with
point-to-point digital data service providing high-quality, high-speed
secure transmission combined with stringent service level guarantees and
detailed performance reporting capabilities. While the network will be
used initially for data traffic, Wattyl will consider VoIP as the
technology becomes more reliable.
Enabling integrated business systems
“We were experiencing serious and continued congestion on our frame
relay network and decided it was time to evaluate other options,” said
Croker. “We believe the Macquarie Telecom solution will enable better
integration and consequent uptake of integrated business systems across
the company.”
Croker adds, “Macquarie's system allows Wattyl to make more effective
use of resources. Outsourcing to an infrastructure and services specialist
like Macquarie makes sound business sense as it provides cost-effective
protection against technological redundancy and growing security
challenges”. |
