Macquarie Telecom set to roll-out Metro Access Network

Macquarie Telecom plans to roll out an intelligent access network across major national capitals.

The Macquarie Telecom Metro Access Network, combined with an Intelligent Service Fabric, will deliver increased speed and scalability for voice, data and Internet applications. It provides Macquarie Telecom's business and government customers with leading edge managed security, reduced support costs and enhanced management and diagnostic capabilities combined with performance guaranteed by leading Service Level Guarantees.

“Traditional carriers, encumbered by their legacy infrastructure, have been slow to deliver real ICT convergence, often due to the fear of cannibalising their existing services,” said David Tudehope, Chief Executive, Macquarie Telecom. “Macquarie Telecom has a long history of being first to market with voice, data and hosting solutions dedicated to the needs of business and government.

“Our customers told us they require more bandwidth at a lower Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). They also asked for dynamic performance management and above all else simple but complete network security,” said Tudehope. “The Metro Access Network has been developed to meet these needs.”

“From a company perspective, the Macquarie Telecom Metro Access Network positions us to capitalise on our experience in markets such as VoIP and IP/VPN and opens up growing revenue streams,” said Tudehope.

It also provides Macquarie Telecom with a platform for faster product and service development to address the specific needs of business and government as they embrace the growing market trend to merge voice, data and Internet applications.

The Macquarie Telecom Metro Access Network can terminate fibre, copper and satellite to deliver a full range of voice and data services including ISDN PSTN and VOIP voice services, IP, ATM, Frame Relay, Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, IPVPN services and all types of DSL services

“Business and government users are looking for secure connectivity, anywhere, anytime,” said Glen Noble, General Manager, Data and Hosting, Macquarie Telecom. “To deliver a converged voice and data solution today requires many types of IP Telephony as well as expertise in traditional voice ISDN and PSTN. The Macquarie Telecom Metro Access Network is highly flexible and can be dedicated to a particular service or partitioned to carry multiple services over a single integrated access link.”

Existing Macquarie Telecom customers will be the first to enjoy the benefits of the new network with a seamless transition providing immediate benefits at no additional costs. The new network will link to Macquarie's existing core data network.

Extending beyond connectivity and the network, Macquarie Telecom's ‘Intelligent Service Fabric' combines traffic management tools, network and service security, real-time application management and consolidated financial reporting to provide business and government customers with complete control and simplified administration.

The Intelligent Service Fabric includes:
