Sydney, Australia – 8th March 2006 – Macquarie Telecom has appointed two new senior Sales Managers to spearhead business growth in Queensland, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania, and meet the rising demand for cost-effective business-class voice and data services.

Nick Lovell, State Manager for Queensland, and Shane Blandford, Southern Region Manager bring a combined total of more than 40 years sales and IT industry experience to the table.

Nick comes to the role from within the Macquarie Telecom team. Previously he held the position of National Account Manager and was responsible for clients with a combined annual spend of more than $50 million.

Prior to joining Macquarie Telecom, Shane enjoyed a long career with Canon Australia that spanned senior management roles including National Sales and Marketing Manager and more recently the State Manager for both South Australia and Victoria. Blandford is a specialist in convergent technologies.

According to Chris Greig, Sales Director, Macquarie Telecom, “Both Nick and Shane have a depth of understanding of their markets that is hard to beat. They are extremely skilled in recognising individual customer challenges and developing customised ICT solutions that match specific business needs.

“Nick and Shane were appointed to these roles because they are very capable leaders who will drive Macquarie Telecom's presence in their respective states.”

Increased choice for regional businesses and government

Macquarie Telecom has made strong in-roads into the business and government markets in Queensland and the southern states through the development of strategic partnerships and innovative service offerings.

In Queensland, Macquarie Telecom established a relationship with the state's peak business body, Commerce Queensland, to deliver telecommunications and IT services to its members across the state. Macquarie Telecom offers Commerce Queensland members an average saving of around 30 per cent on their current telecommunications costs.

Members are also be able to access Macquarie Telecom's online management tools such as FleetView and Volume Control that can track call volume and trends – helping them realise further savings in both call and administration costs.

In Tasmania, Macquarie Telecom is the first and only provider to introduce a single call zone for business and government calling anywhere within Tasmania.

Other carriers have divided the island state into three call zones resulting in a raft of STD charges for business and government. For example, calls from Hobart to Launceston, are charged at STD rates by all other carriers.

Organisations such as the Tourism Council of Tasmania are among those currently enjoying savings realised from the single call zone.
