Stops viruses, spam and unwanted content before it reaches the network

Sydney, AUSTRALIA, 8th March 2005 – Inadequate Internet security doesn't just disrupt day-to-day activity. It can cripple a business through lost customer contact, corrupted data, expensive system clean-ups and damage to corporate reputation.

To solve this problem, Macquarie Telecom has launched a new managed services offering called Clean Internet to provide maximum protection for business and government.

For one Australian organisation, Macquarie Telecom Clean Internet reduced network traffic by more than 22 per cent in a single week: the company received around 120,000 emails during this time, of which more than 8,500 viruses were stopped and 18,730 were quarantined as spam.

“Just as you expect clean water when you turn on the tap; you should be able to expect clean Internet from your internet service,” said Glen Noble, general manager, Macquarie Telecom Data & Hosting. “However, this is far from reality today.”

Designed to stop viruses, spam and unwanted content before it reaches your network, Macquarie Telecom Clean Internet comprises:

• Virus protection - Companies may already have desktop anti-virus protection measures, but Macquarie Telecom Clean Internet adds an additional layer of protection at network level

• Anti Spam - Anti-spam on the network layer prevents unwanted spam and as a result, unwanted email traffic from entering the LAN. Download volumes are lowered thereby saving on Internet traffic costs as well as reducing resultant loss of productivity

• Content filtering – Unwanted and offensive content is blocked without the need for expensive hardware, software and continual maintenance

A detailed monthly report on virus and spam activity enables customers to refine their security policies to further enhance business protection.

Because Clean Internet is managed entirely by Macquarie Telecom, business and government benefit from world-class, independently certified, Internet security backed by some of the most stringent service level guarantees in the industry. As an introductory special, Macquarie Telecom is offering its Clean Internet Solution from as little as $5 per month per user until 30th April 2005*.

* Terms and Conditions: 24 month contract, solution requires Macquarie Telecom internet connection, free install for standard set up.
