Routing Platforms Enable Broader Range of IP Services for Corporate and Government Customers

SUNNYVALE, Calif., August 17, 2004 - Juniper Networks, Inc. (Nasdaq: JNPR) and Lucent Technologies (NYSE: LU) today announced Macquarie Corporate Telecommunications (ASX: MAQ), a leading supplier of voice, data, mobile, hosting and security solutions, has selected a range of routing platforms to expand its service portfolio for corporate and government customers throughout Australia and South Asia. Lucent Technologies has supplied Macquarie Corporate with Juniper Networks E-series and M-series routing platforms for deployment across Australia. The network expansion enables Macquarie Corporate to enhance its existing VPN offerings to include services such as MPLS-based IP-VPN and capitalise on Layer 2 Tunnelling Protocol (L2TP) to offer customers greater security and control.

“Macquarie Corporate requires advanced routing solutions for the expansion of its backbone network and the creation of a wider range of data services for customers,” said Glen Noble, general manager data and hosting solutions, Macquarie Corporate Telecommunications.

“Macquarie Corporate is the only carrier focussed exclusively on serving the government and corporate sectors in the Australian and South Asia markets. We are confident that by using Juniper Networks and taking advantage of L2TP technology, Macquarie Corporate will be able to leverage its strong foothold in the Asia Pacific market,” said Shaun Page, director, Australia and New Zealand, Juniper Networks.

“IP-based services such as MLPS-VPN are gaining momentum among corporate customers. By deploying Juniper Networks routing solutions, Macquarie Corporate will be able to quickly and cost effectively enhance its value offering to corporate customers in Australia,” said Chris Ford, director of Wireline Solutions for Lucent Technologies. Lucent deployed and integrated the Juniper solution into the existing Macquarie data network, which Lucent manages from its Global Network Operations Centre in North Ryde, Sydney.

In addition to extending its geographical reach, Macquarie Corporate is using the Juniper Networks solutions to provide IPSec tunnel termination to customers' VPNs, dramatically reducing network complexity and cost by removing the need for end-user software installations.

Delivering unmatched dependability, security and IP service richness, the Juniper Networks routing portfolio is perfectly suited to meet the demands of carriers that offer tailored IP-based voice, video and data solutions to customers across various industries.
