Family and Friends

Can I keep my existing number?
Absolutely. All existing Australian numbers, from any carrier are able to be ported to Macquarie Telecom Family & Friends.

How is the data service charged?
Data is charged on your credit card on the 25th of each month. Data credits start from the first day of the following month and last until the last day of that month. There are no excess charges on this service. Service will be cut off when 95% of total allowable amount is reached. A reminder will be sent to your device at 50% and 85% of value to assist you manage the data usage. Service is reactivated after the next payment or after you upgrade your data allowance. No Modems are part of this offer.

Will I be billed on my call plan?
No. As our Family and Friends product is completely prepaid, no bills are issued and no trees pulped! You can track how much you're spending though via FleetView. We'll send you a login and password in the ‘Welcome Pack’ issued with the SIM or you can recover lost passwords via the FleetView login page.

What is Ring Alert? What is the charge?
Ring Alert and Deliver is superior method of receiving your voicemail. The voicemail server rings your handset and there is absolutely no charge for this service. Ring Alert and Deliver can be activated by short dial 1219 and pressing ‘Send’.

What is the SMS charge?
SMS’s are charged at just 16.5c per SMS (inc GST).

What network will I be on?
Family and Friends customers reside on the Vodafone network which covers more than 94% of the Australian population.

Can I order hardware with this offer?
Hardware is not currently available with this offer, but watch this space. 

What services can't be used on Macquarie Telecom prepaid?
MMS (PXT), GPRS and International Roaming. This is because the feeds from the network do not happen in real time.

Signing Up/Ordering

I'm new to Family and Friends, how do I sign up for a new mobile call plan and data plan?
If you don't already have a mobile call plan with Macquarie Telecom Family and Friends, please complete the form here to sign up. If you already have a phone number you can use this form to port your number across to us.

I already have a mobile call plan with Macquarie Telecom, I just want to add data.
You will need to log into FleetView and upgrade your service to include a data allowance. You can do this via FleetView here.

Why do I need to provide identification?
This is a legal requirement for establishing a mobile phone connection in Australia.

How do I know my credit card details are protected?
Macquarie Telecom uses a real time credit card gateway, CAMTECH, to process your transaction. This is the most common access method and has been deployed across the majority of online transactions you would have done in the past. The gateway is highly secure. Macquarie Telecom disposes of credit card information as soon as the transaction is complete. It is not stored.

After I have ordered, how long will it take until I receive my SIM?
Typically within 5 working days. If it has not arrived by the 5th working day, please ring MacquarieHUB on 1800 789 999 and quote your order number to track the whereabouts of your delivery.

Where will the SIM be delivered to?
The delivery address you select on the application form will be the final delivery address. The SIM will arrive via registered mail.

How can I top up my prepaid call balance?
The only method available is via your phone itself. The call must come from the Macquarie Telecom Family & Friends connection for identification. No online facilities are available for topping up the balance.
Simply dial 1553 and press ‘Send’. Then follow the voice prompts. Make sure you have your credit card handy, this is the only payment method accepted.

What amounts can I use to top up?
A minimum of $30 and a maximum of $300.

Will my call credits rollover into the next month?
Yes they will. Credit will however be lost if the account doesn’t pass traffic for 12 months.
