Remote Access Services

Macquarie Telecom Secure Remote Access Service is a secure and flexible remote access solution for mobile workers, tele-workers and roaming users travelling domestically or overseas. Through Secure Remote Access, they can access via any internet connection to their corporate intra and be able to use their business applications while they are away from their offices.

Secure Remote Access service uses the latest generation carrier grade Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) technology from Juniper Networks – The Instant Virtual Extranet (IVE) platform. It provides the ability for a remote device on an internet connection to access their end user network securely, via 128 bit or 168 bit encryption through the use of a standard web browser.

User Benefits of Secure Remote Access

  • Highly user-friendly access to the corporate network from any internet connection in the world, including fixed or wireless connection.
  • High Security (similar to those used for internet banking)
  • No upfront capital costs
  • Clientless – easy to manage and support
  • Flexible solution – independent of operating system, can be used with any device that has a standard web browser
  • High reliability – protected by fully redundant perimeter firewalls
  • 24 x 7 Platform support
  • Managed and monitored in Macquarie’s security accredited Network Operations Centre
  • Highly scalable – capable of supporting 1000s+ end users
  • Provides support for groups structured to allow segregated access to services, servers, or applications in the customer environment.

SSL VPN vs IPSec VPN

SSL VPN is the new breed of “clientless” remote access VPN that require no additional software other than the web browser on the local device. Read more about an IPSec VPN vs SSL

Advantages of our Secure Remote Access solution vs Legacy IPSec Remote Access solution:

  • An SSL based VPN allows access via any web enabled device regardless of its location around the world
  • SSL VPNs can be configured to check end-point security (e.g.. Ensure the remote host has adequate firewall and anti virus protection in place before allowing access)
  • The end user device does not need to have dedicated client software installed and maintained.
  • User controls and management can be administered from a central point, without device recalls and/or user involvement.
  • SSL uses standard https port, so there will not be firewall and NAT transversal issues as often encountered by IPSec tunnels.

Macquarie Telecom is reducing the impediments to business growth by making corporate networks accessible everywhere.
