Macquarie Telecom's ADSL2+ is serious business broadband with 99.9% guaranteed service
availability for customers requiring speed, reliability and consistently clear data channel
throughput to your Macquarie Telecom IP VPN (broadband
VPN) port or Macquarie Telecom Internet gateway connection.
Key Business Broadband (ADSL / ADSL2+) Questions - broadband internet for
business
- Need serious broadband for your business
- Wondering what the difference is between ADSL2 and ADSL2+
- Want to know when you should use asymmetric rather then symmetric DSL
If your business needs high-availability, committed throughput at serious broadband speeds
for your IP VPN or Internet data network then Macquarie Telecom’s ADSL2+ is a perfect fit.
The speeds offered on the Macquarie Telecom network*, include:
- 6mbps/640kbps,
12mbps/1mbps,
18mbps/1mbps and
24mbps/1mbps
Unlike fibre based broadband services, which are generally cost prohibitive for a business
not already connected to the fibre network, ADSL2+ is more accessible and often quicker to
implement. ADSL2+ uses the reliable unconditioned local loop (ULL) cabling infrastructure,
which makes it possible for almost any business connected to an exchange with ADSL2+ to deploy
the faster broadband service.
Addresses the key criteria for business grade data networks by including:
- Clear channel data throughput+ to your Macquarie Telecom IP VPN port or to
your Macquarie Telecom Internet gateway connection.
- Guaranteed service availability (99.9%) and support response times (30 minutes)
to maximise business uptime.
- Our 24x7 Data Contact Centre allowing you as a business customer to access
our personalised support services at your convenience.
- Support for both routed and bridged connectivity, terminating on a 10/100 Ethernet
interface, so as to best fit your business networking needs.
- A disciplined design and methodical project approach (Prince2 based) to implementing
your new ADSL2+ based broadband network as well as when making changes as required over
time.
- Fully managed business grade broadband, including on site break fix support,
ADSL2+ Network Terminating Unit (NTU).
Asymmetrical data connectivity is particularly suitable for business sites that usually
download more data than they push up. Traditionally the emphasis has been on broadband Internet
access but in a business environment, thin client (Citrix etc) remote sites, can also benefit
when communicating across an IP VPN to a central server.
When your business upgrades its broadband service to Macquarie Telecom ADSL2+ you will
immediately notice a significant improvement in transfer speeds and consistency of throughput.
Terminology: ADSL2 and ADSL2+
ADSL2 is the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) standard known as ITU G.992.3/4.
It enhances ADSL broadband to offer download speeds up to 12mbps and upload speeds up to 3.5mbps
in the optimum environment both in distance from the exchange and in line quality.
ADSL2+ is the ITU G.992.5 standard and download speeds can be up to 24mbps, while upload
speeds are specified as up to 1mbps. ADSL2+ will provide higher download speeds over longer
distances from the exchange than ADSL2 and therefore ADSL2+ is becoming the prevalent technology
of choice for ADSL broadband services.
