Company: Travel Industries Automated Systems (tias), is the market leader in the development of IT services and online business solutions for the Australian and New Zealand travel industries.

"Macquarie Telecom's 'can do' attitude made what could have been an excruciating process relatively pain free. A commitment to superior service and ongoing improvement is one of the major reasons for us choosing the carrier."
Vergil Iliescu, Chief Technical Officer, tias.

“We simply rolled out our boxes and plugged them in at the Macquarie Intellicentre with seamless data transfer.”

tias connects travel suppliers via the CRS (the travel industry dedicated network that connects agents to all the major airlines and suppliers) and the Internet. "We are in the process of moving CRS products to the Internet. The growth of the Traveltools web portal has shown that there is significant demand in the market for an industry Internet platform, and we're working overtime to provide just that," said Vergil Iliescu, Chief Technical Officer, tias.

"Our goal is to create a place on the net that not only gives agents access to everything they want, but also allows them to do whatever they want - look, book, browse, learn, buy. And even more exciting than that, are our plans for "Integrator"-a platform that will revolutionise the way the travel industry does business." In addition to its success servicing the travel industry, tias has a track record of applying technology internally to streamline business processes. It has successfully applied an Application Service Provider (ASP) model to the supply of its travel industry mid office software -BORIS. Travel agents can access BORIS via the Internet and use it to perform a range of office functions from customer relationship management (CRM) to back office systems.

Under the co-location agreement, tias will utilise Macquarie Telecom's physically secure hosting environment in its $30 million Intellicentre, 100 Meg ethernet connectivity to the Macquarie Telecom ATM network and the Internet (plus multiplex access to all of the other major carriers and dial-up IP access for tias remote workers) and 24 hour monitoring and reporting.

"We needed an environment that could cost-effectively scale to meet the growing demand for our new online products. For the tias Board, outsourcing to an infrastructure and services specialist like Macquarie Telecom made sound business sense as it provided cost-effective protection against technological redundancy, staff turnover, and growing security challenges,” he said.

Macquarie Telecom will provide some of the ITC industry's most stringent Service Level Guarantees, with 24-by7 service and support.

The cut over to Macquarie Telecom's datacentre was achieved with no disruption to service. Macquarie Telecom installed a microwave link to tias' Sydney headquarters to facilitate a smooth cut over.

"We simply rolled out our boxes and plugged them in at Macquarie Telecom's datacentre with seamless data transfer via the Microwave LAN link.”

"Macquarie Telecom's 'can do' attitude made what could have been an excruciating process relatively pain free. A commitment to superior service and ongoing improvement is one of the major reasons for us choosing the carrier."
