Australian Interactive Media Industry Association - Founded in 1992, AIMIA is the peak

The Australian Communications & Media Authority (ACMA) is responsible for regulating the
telecommunications industry, licensing telecommunications carriers, monitoring service performance
and quality through the development of industry codes of practice and representing Australia's
communications interests internationally.

Act 1974, addressing anti-competitive and unfair market practices, mergers and acquisitions
of companies, product safety/liability and third-party access to facilities of national significance.

The Asia-Pacific Carriers Coalition (APCC), officially formed in September 2004, aims
to work with governments, National Regulation Authorities and consumers throughout the
region to promote open market policies and best practice regulatory frameworks throughout

CCC
The Competitive Carriers Coalition is an industry association representing the
interests of non-dominant telecommunications carriers in Australia. It advocates
pro-competition policy and regulation. Its members participate in all telecommunications
markets in Australia, including fixed line, mobile, residential and corporate, delivering
services including broadband and voice, and have invested well over $4 billion in

Communications Alliance
The Communications Alliance was formed in 2006 to provide a unified voice for the
Australian communications industry and to lead it into the next generation of converging
networks, technologies and services. With its genesis in the merger of the Australian
Communications Industry Forum (ACIF) and the Service Providers Association Inc (SPAN), the
Communications Alliance offers a forum for the industry to make coherent and constructive
contributions to policy development and debate, particularly in areas of competition,
innovation and industry development. The Communications Alliance promotes the growth of
the Australian communications industry and the protection of consumer interests by
fostering the highest standards of business ethics and behaviour through industry
self-governance.
TIO
The Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (TIO) is a free and independent alternative dispute
resolution scheme for small business and residential consumers who have a complaint about
their telephone or Internet service and cannot resolve it with their service provider. The
TIO aims to settle disputes quickly in a fair, objective and non-bureaucratic way, having
regard not only to the law and to good industry practice, but also to what is fair and reasonable
