Macquarie Telecom is supportive of peering, either directly or publicly with other networks where we have a mutual interest to do so.

Minimum Prerequisites

We generally ask each applicant seeking to peer with Macquarie Telecom, in direct or public peering relationships, to fulfil the following minimum prerequisites:

  • Peer networks must be connected to a minimum of two exchange points
  • The peering partner shall operate a fully staffed, twenty-four hour, seven-day-a-week Network Operations Centre with escalation procedures in place to resolve customer service issues.
  • Peers must have a valid Autonomous System Number (ASN)
  • Peers must have a relevant carrier class router
  • Peers must agree to actively cooperate investigating security violations, denial of service attacks, and similar incidents.
  • Peers must agree that Macquarie Telecom reserves the right to temporarily suspend peering if it is determined to be causing harm to the Macquarie Telecom network.  Peering may resume once the problem is resolved.
  • Interconnection, operational traffic management, capacity issues and general requirements as agreed.  The details of which will be made available upon receiving a request to peer.

Policy Notices

These prerequisites are subject to modification. For example, changes due to, but not limited to, developments in network infrastructure, routing, traffic and capacity requirements.

Macquarie Telecom reserves the right to make modifications to this policy and will post such amendments on its website.

Peering Agreements

Macquarie Telecom has available a standard peering agreement, but will also accept a peer provided agreement, subject to review by Macquarie Telecom.

Macquarie Telecom's ability to enter into a peering agreement with a particular carrier is subject to the availability of peering ports and our backbone capacity in particular locations.

Macquarie Telecom reserves the right to periodically review this policy and will at all times maintain the most current version of our policy on our web-site (www.macquarietelecom.com).

Macquarie Telecom reserves the right to terminate any peering relationship, at will, for violations to the above policy, or in accordance with the terms defined in the agreement with a peer.
