ISO 27001 security standard. Built to a standard higher than AS2834. DSD Highly Protected ASIO T4.

Certifications include: PCI DSS, SAI Global - ISO 27001:2005, Microsoft Gold Partner, VMware Authorised Hosting Provider, RedHat Enterprise Hosting Partner and SunTone.

Data Network Facility Connections

Macquarie Telecom's nationwide data network offers a variety of connectivity options including Private IP, Frame Relay, Ethernet, ICON, ISDN, Internet, ADSL2+ and SHDSL.

Telecommunications in the facility are provided by multiple carriers, all-active and BGP routed.

Macquarie Telecom uses its own network, Optus, AAPT and PIPE Networks for Internet routing and has over seven telecoms providers terminating in the facility.

Internet access is via multiple Gigabit connections. Capacity planning is managed by dedicated roles.

Macquarie Telecom places no restrictions on carriers currently not servicing the facility.

There are multiple entry points per telecommunications carrier into the facility.

The telecommunications services are provisioned for growth capabilities including redundancy, Internet access, backend connection, WAN and more.

The building has two separate secure risers for redundancy; one is for Macquarie Telecom private use.

Macquarie Telecom peer with multiple Internet carriers such as:

• Optus
• Powertel
• PIPE Networks
• Akamai
• Equinix

Data Centre Scalability

The data centre facility was built with scalability in mind. Two floors are custom-built and there are options on four more. The existing cooling towers and UPS power supplies can support two additional floors.

Test procedures and frequency

The whole facility is tested on a monthly basis. Outsourced testing includes established procedures and detailed reporting methods.

The Intellicentre has monitored alarm systems that are operational 24/7, including local and remote alarms for all fire and UPS services and security surveillance.

Detailed SLAs and SLGs are in place

Macquarie Telecom offers strict Service Level Guarantees with rebates for underperformance.

Air conditioning

25 Liebert Precision Cooling units, each with 75kw heat rejection.

N + 1 redundancy, with units able to handle 100% of capacity with one or more spare in case of failure.

Detailed SLAs and SLGs are in place

Dual redundant cooling pumps, dual redundant cooling towers and heat exchangers are present.

Fire protection

Multi-point aspirated Cerebrus smoke detection with VESDA.

FM 200 (main fire suppression) system

Portable fire extinguishers.

Dry pipe pre-action sprinklers (as last resort).

Security

Mantraps with hand-scanners to main Data Centre.

Codes and proximity card access to entry doors.

Monitoring of all doors, riser cupboards, plant rooms, etc.

CCTV with motion detection and fixed cameras with digital recording capability and HDD archive.

Web cameras available upon request.

Electricity supply

3 separate power grid transformers are available in the building. One is connected permanently, with two others available on demand.

The facility can continue full operations in the event of an interruption to all external electrical supplies. This is fully tested every 6 months

Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS)

Macquarie Telecom owns and operates 3 x 500 kva UPSs with expandability to a further two units. The UPSs have the capability of 15 minutes of full autonomy on batteries. Both primary UPSs are continuously online. All power to the data facility is fed through the UPSs

The batteries (500, with five separate strings) are on a battery monitoring system

The fail-over arrangements for electrical supply operate automatically in the event of total or partial interruption to external supplies as online UPS technology is used.

All power services within the Intellicentre will ultimately be supplied by the back up generators within three minutes of the mains power supply outage.
